Jerwood Contemporary Makers 2009

On until 19th July

Considered the Turner Prize of the design world, the Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition showcases work from seven designers (selected from 26) who are all making an impact with their work . The makers selected 'bring into question the relationship between the creative processes of designing and making; whether they develop and negotiate international resources or work with both the amateur enthusiast and the brilliant scientist, they create extraordianry things in radical ways.' -Rebecca Earley

Committee's 'Kebab Lamps' are amazing, I really want one. The lamps stands are assembled using discarded objects, mainly rescued from bric-brac markets. The careful selection of objects depict strange narratives and a history of consumer interests. The one on show has a man with a hose spiraling out of his head into a ceramic food tin..amazing.
