PLAYHOUSE PRINTS

The screen printed panels for the playhouse are designed to encourage creative play and are deliberately left open to the interpretation of the nursery children. For example, the porthole designs remove the playhouse from any domestic theme and could potentially allow the space to be interpreted as a boat, spaceship, aeroplane or even submarine.

The internal control centre design presents basic alphabet and number sequences with various printed switches and buttons. The idea is that children will be able to interact with the designs and, if they wish, change the playhouse ‘function’. The control centre design could be perceived as a microwave, stereo or recording studio; it encourages creativity and an affinity with technology in a non-gendered format.
